Our journey began in 1997, when owner Martin Friis, at the age of 24, opened the doors to his first store in Copenhagen. He had brought home the inspiration from a business trip to Italy, and that was the start of Notabene's story. Our early collections were bold and colourful, but were soon refined into Notabene’s expression. Since then, the balance between Italian craftsmanship and Scandinavian lifestyle has defined our DNA.

Today, Notabene is an exclusive footwear brand with nearly 30 years of experience. All our shoes are designed in Copenhagen and produced in Italy in collaboration with family-owned factories. Here, generations of Italian craftsmanship come together with Scandinavian aesthetics. Each style is created with care and made from European natural materials, carefully selected and transformed into timeless designs.
Our shoes are made from by-products of the food industry and natural resources. We believe this is the most responsible way when working with skin, leather and fur. After nearly 30 years of experience in shoe production, we are still in constant development.
